What is Oxjam?
Oxjam is Oxfam’s month-long music festival. It runs all through October with hundreds of events around the UK, all organised by volunteers who know and love their local music scene, all raising money to save lives around the world. Since the first festival in 2006, Oxjam has raised more than £1.5 million for Oxfam’s work. That’s enough to buy 13,000 emergency shelters; 900 classrooms OR 60,000 goats!
Oxfam is a vibrant global movement of dedicated people fighting poverty: Together. From saving lives and developing projects that put poor people in charge of their lives and livelihoods to campaigning for change that lasts.
This year Oxjam enlisted the help of Sally Freeman, to organise a London event and took the decision to base it in our very own town of Chorleywood! There are a variety of events organised throughout September and October featuring a range of music genres, local bands and more established acts.
Sewell & Gardner were so excited & honoured to be asked by Sally to sponsor Oxjam Chorleywood and all of it’s associated events. Sally was attracted to us following all of our online marketing and use of social networking; in-keeping with the ‘green’ aspect of Oxjam where ticket sales are organised online, as well as promotion and marketing.
As soon as we became involved in this tremendous charity event, we decided to host our own Sewell & Gardner music event! We have a fabulous team of staff, young & old (er) who LOVE music and this was a fantastic opportunity to showcase many of our friends &
family’s bands & acts and we hope that lots of our clients and customers will come along and enjoy the music with us! We have worked tremendously hard over the last month to pull together (so far) 4 local bands, 2 accoustic acts and a fantastic DJ/compere, we’ve sourced a great local venue and are now proud to announce:
