My first week in the property industry

We have recently welcomed two new team members who are new to the property industry. It’s great to see our team expanding and we’re excited they have joined the fast paced fun environment we work in! Welcome Sophie and Grace and have a read below to see how their first week went.

Our new Sales Administrator Sophie Button:

During my first week at Sewell & Gardner I was very busy being trained and learning all aspects of my administration role. I am really enjoying learning how everything comes into play within the company and how each task has a big impact helping the Sales Consultants completing the sale of a property.

As this is my first job, I am adjusting well to the longer working days and routine of the working life. There has been a lot of information to take in and learn but I am a fast learner so I will hopefully pick everything up and be able to complete tasks without no or little help very soon. So far, a few of the tasks I have learnt is how to create brochures, window cards for properties, making properties live and mailing out to the applicants on our database.  Also, I am being trained on how to handle enquires over the phone, which will grow my skillset. Every day I am getting more confident and needing less assistance when doing the tasks addressed to me, so I am looking forward to becoming fully fluent in my area as I am sure that will happen in time.

Everyone in the Ricky office has been very welcoming and made me feel at ease, so I am settling in quickly and can see myself really enjoying my time here at Sewell & Gardner. I am also enjoying working in the Ricky office, as on my lunchbreaks I like to go for walks around the Aquadrome and get some fresh air and appreciate the nature right on our doorstep.

Our New Homes Consultant Grace Spence:

When I started working as New Homes Consultant at Sewell and Gardner I was very excited but also nervous as I had no experience working in the property industry. As soon as I walked into the office on my first day I felt very overwhelmed with the great opportunity I had but I was welcomed with open arms and have received great mentoring. I have learnt so much about the property world already and I continue to learn more things every day.

When I had my first couple phone calls I was very nervous because I am not used to talking to the public on the phone but the more calls I make my confidence has really improved and now I can pick up the phone and feel confident in answering leads and also having a natural conversation with the client.

Some days I can be in the office all day responding to enquiries and calling clients/booking viewings and I really enjoy it. Other days can be very busy from leaving the office, attending viewings and going to the other offices. I love my position as every day is different. I enjoy Launch Days as I can go to a property with my team and watch them perform viewings. I like to learn from the best! I look forward to being able to complete my first sale and hand over the keys to a buyer I have helped all the way through.

At Sewell & Gardner we don’t usually recruit based on experience in the industry. We believe that attitude is important and we like to welcome fresh young talent into our team and train them in the S&G way. If you are looking to start a career in the property industry keep your eyes peeled for any vacancies we have come up!
