When will we start to see more property coming on the market?

This is the question I am being asked most commonly at the moment.  We have a vast database of keen buyers looking for their dream home and wondering when it is likely to come to market. Traditionally the answer to this question is Spring time.

As the days get longer, lighter and warmer we traditionally see an increase in the number of properties coming on the market. Every home looks nicer on a sunny spring day than it does on a dark winter one and sellers want their home to look its absolute best when on show to potential buyers. With gardens coming into bloom and as much natural light as possible, your house can really shine. The lighter evenings also lengthens the period of the day in which we can conduct viewings, as potential buyers wish to see the property in daylight in order to make a fully informed decision on it.

I also often hear from clients that they are keen to move now that the Christmas celebrations are well out of the way and before the summer holidays when they have children to entertain for 6 weeks. If this is the case for you then now if a great time to come onto the market. For those looking to move into a school catchment area, now is also a good time to come to the market as it should allow you to be in your new home before the cut off for next year’s school applications.

These are the main reasons I expect to see more property come to the market this Spring time. If you are thinking of selling or looking to buy in the area, please do not hesitate to give me a call on 01923 776400. I look forward to hearing from you!
