This year’s Rickmansworth Christmas Evening will take place on Friday 29th November 2013 and will incorporate the Rising Star Stage & the Starlight Parade with prizes for the best costume for the parade for Under 11s and Over 11s from Waitrose and Warner Brothers.
There is a slightly different road closure this year which has now been agreed by Highways. The High Street will be closed as normal from 3pm but also in addition the road will be closed from the Coach & Horses to the Library. Traffic will be diverted down Talbot Road and out through the lowered bollards onto Church Street. A letter will be sent to all residents and offices concerned once we receive the official notice from Highways. This allows us to put the stage further into the road so it is more visible and also keeps the access to Watersmeet, The Library and Basing House clear. The buses will be diverted around the ring road to Northway.
All of the car parks will also be accessible except of course the one by M&S which will accommodate the fairground.
HIGH STREET STALLS
This year there are so many craft stalls selling loads of Christmas gifts, many locally hand made, so make sure you bring your Christmas savings along!
THE STARLIGHT PARADE
If you or your ‘stars’ would like to take part in the parade, you will be pleased to hear that we have The Pied Piper of Rickmansworth, Gary Anderson AND the Chesham Girls Band this year to lead the parade and to follow up. The Town Crier will also be on hand to publicise what is going on.
The timings are as follows:
5.00pm to 5.30pm Parade to gather at the Car Park next to M&S
5.30pm Set off down the High Street
5.45pm -5.55pm Chesham girls band to play at the stage area
6.00pm – 6.15pm Opening of the event
All we ask is that you illuminate yourselves in some way! We have some wonderful prizes on offer for the best costume (under 11 & over 11) donated by Waitrose and also Warner Brothers Studio Tour Leavesden!
