Chorleywood Film Festival

Sewell & Gardner are delighted to be supporting the FIRST Chorleywood Film Festival! Cholreywood Film Club and Chorleywood Bookshop are collaborating to bring to you this fabulous event and Sewell & Gardner are delighted to support it.

With a theme of ‘from the book to the scene’ the programme has something for all ages. This exciting event starts on 17th February to 19th February and all screenings will take place at the War Memorial Hall on Common Road, Chorleywood, taking advantage of the new wide format screen recently installed by the Parish Council.

So what can you expect from the first annual film festival? Here is a sneak peak of the programme-

Friday 17th Feb 8pm- Screening of Suite Française

A story of the power of love and the tragedy of war set during the German occupation of France in the 1940’s.

Saturday 18th Feb 9.30-11.30am- An opportunity to meet the film-makers! 

Two local children’s animated film directors and producers talk about, and watch examples of, their work. BAFTA winning Graham Ralph (First Snow of Winter / The Forgotten Toys) Harry And His Bucketful Of Dinosaurs) and Ed Foster (Little Princess) will be interviewed and participate in a Q&A session moderated by Martin Clarkson. They will also be showing the winner of the Young Film-makers Competition – as well as screening Liam Harris’s animated film Perched and the classic short feature film The Red Balloon.

Saturday 18th Feb 2pm- Screening of The Waterhorse, Legend of the Deep

Two children discover an egg on a beach in Scotland which eventually hatches into a “waterhorse”. Later, that waterhorse grows up to be the Loch Ness monster!

Saturday 18th Feb 8pm- Screening of The Dressmaker

After years working as a dressmaker in exclusive Parisian fashion houses, Tilly (Kate Winslet) returns home to a town in the Australian outback to reconcile with her eccentric mother and falls in love with the pure-hearted Teddy (Liam Hemsworth).

Sunday 19th Feb 2pm- Screening of The King and I

This classic, award winning version of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Broadway musical hit, The King and I, stars Deborah Kerr as an English widow (Anna) who goes to Siam in the 1860s to tutor the many wives and children of the country’s progressive King (Yul Brynner).
